Very buggy CYOA game, Sun 13th Mar 2022
By David Whyld - See all my reviews

This was one of two games I played recently by authors who don't use English as a first language, and boy does it show. It was bad in the other game, but at least the text was relatively brief there; here, it's much, much worse. This is a CYOA game with a lot of text to read through and when the text looks to have been fed through Google Translate, it doesn't bode well.

Most of the game is played by pressing return time and again, with the player not being required to do much at all. Sometimes, for some reason I could never quite fathom, pressing return doesn't work and instead you have to type "continue" - an attempt to give the player something to do?

I came across a couple of puzzles, one of which involved using an item which I would never have guessed in a million years without the hints and the other I couldn't figure out at all. This isn't a standard game, lacking proper location descriptions, so it's difficult to gain any information about puzzles from just the location name. As big a fan as I am of CYOA games, when they have puzzles thrown in like this, they don't work very well at all.
