Create a object that as a PartOf your Character. Enter an another object that can be close (closet). All PartOf objects stay outside and are no longer visible until the closet is open again.

Also, if an object is part of another character who is inside a closed object, you can see it from the outside but if you are inside the closed object with them then you can't see it anymore.
