If you save a transcript using the default name (adrift_1.txt?), the next time you try to start a transcript, the program hangs before displaying the file dialog. |

The above did not happen when I tried this just now. If you think you have found a bug you should report it on the forum first so it can be confirmed by other Drifters. This "bug" may be due to a problem with your computer and not a problem with ADRIFT. |

Which folder were you trying to save the default file to? You may not have permissions on that folder. |

Lazzah - directions in the Adrift 5.0 forum description say to post bugs here, so that's what I did
Campbell - Using XP and saving to a folder off the root. As admin I have access to this folder and all my transcripts are saved here. I click on "start transcript", then clicked on "save" to start a transcript with the default name of adrift_1.txt. Now run the game for awhile, then click on "Stop Transcript". So far, so good. Now try to start another transcript. When I do this, the program locks. After forcing the program to quit and restarting it will still lock if you try to start a transcript. If I delete the file adrift_1.txt, then everything is normal again. I should also add this happens on more then one XP PC.
Another update, same thing happens on a W7 PC. |

I just tried what you describe above on my W7 laptop and all was well, there was no lock-up. My playtester has an XP computer and has never reported any problems saving transcripts. Have you tried the above using a different filename? |

I've saved dozens of transcripts, the only time it locks up is when I save the default name. If no one else can duplicate this behavior then I guess there's not much the developers will be able to do to fix it. I just won't use the default name, which I normally don't anyway. |

If you right-click on the Runner exe and select Run as Administrator, do you get the same behaviour? |

With XP I've never had to do that. I was going to say it's not even available, but I do see the option. Problem is I don't know what the administrator password is, which is needed to perform the run as. My user account has full admin rights, and that hasn't changed for about 10 years with this laptop. If it was a profile or user issue, wouldn't that affect all transcript saves? Just for giggles I tried again, waited till the program was hung. Then I opened an explorer window and deleted the transcript file, while adrift was still running. As soon as I deleted the file, the save dialog opened within adrift. A file rename will also make the save dialog appear. The existence of that file is defiantly pissing it off. |

For the sake of completenes I got on the W7 machine and ran as admin. Low and behold the save dialog appeared! Ran it again with a normal start and it hangs. I don't know what to think now. |
