This is a module of what I worked out to do my port of "All Roads Lead To Mars", which allows you to let the player wander in any direction and yet control the order in which they see new locations.
Included is a flowchart describing how it works. In order to make use of this module, import it and create the necessary queue, is player in __, and go to __ tasks (1 of each per room involved) to be executed by the appropriate manager tasks. The included tasks themselves have comments in the <> tags to help you. You can erase those if you do not need them. If you have questions, find me on the forums.
Things to be aware of - exits in the involved locations will not be listed as they technically don’t ’exist’ to the runner. The control panel option should be disabled by the generator to avoid confusion as the direction buttons will not work in these locations. It is possible, if you included enough rooms in the queue, for the player to attempt to loop back to previous locations - this is not currently supported but may be implemented in another release later. Choosing a direction without a connection after all rooms in the queue have been visited will result in the player being moved randomly to a room group. This is so you don’t get the ’you can’t go that way’ messages in the section of the game that says that you can go anywhere. If you don’t need that feature, then don’t assign a room group to it and instead give it a completion message saying something to the effect that you can’t go that way.
