(Adding this to the enhancement as suggested.)

For a future version of Adrift I would like to have some sort of graphics layering. For example you have would have the artwork for locations be the backdrop layer, then on top of that you would draw the object layer where graphics for static and dynamic objects would be drawn, then finally you would have the layer where character art would be drawn which would probably in front of all the other layers.

Dedicated layers might make it easier to interact with these things via tasks and events, but I think a dynamic range of layers might be preferable, though I don't see the need to layer more than a handful of images at a time. That said, if someone has a valid and creative use for a ton of layered images, I'd like for it to be possible should layers get implemented.

Another idea for layers is being able to display a picture as a full window backdrop and have a transparent ( size adjustable/ and screen position options) grey window box for text . This could be
An option for those who want to use alot of backdrop pictures or heavy graphics game like a graphic novel.

Heavy graphics text adventure ideas:
More Advanced ideas is being able to add custom size layered panels to the screen, which could either be preset square templates llike comic book panels which could be 100% transparent until they are used or a picture fills, each panel square could be filled by Action task tab for graphics and each panel template has an alphabet code for each square. Eg Action> Graphics>Template 2, F insert picture. Etc.

While being a little complex here, having to resize pictures on the fly to fit into panel sizes and options to x1 or x2 images in a panel etc
This would give Adrift a unique story telling method since those panels would reveal the path of the story as player makes choices so it's like a never the same unraveling comic book. It would require alot of graphics. However a 4-5 panel template might be a default size, with placement variations for user to choose from. These can be used for location pics, character portrait shots, closeup of objects or clues etc. Another use could be beng able to put custom text output with variation in text sizes and fonts in panels as Sort of like a commentary or highlights of story events. Imagine being able to save that commentary
And it outputs as a gif replaying the brief highlights of the players choices which is a retelling of the story in itself.

Getting back on track...
When all panels are used up a new blank template can be displayed and filled up according to how the user/creator desires.

Other variations is random layered stacking of pictures like cards the current picture will be normal and all previous slightly greyed out. Again using a custom transparent text window for player commands and text output would be used with this.
