I don't remember seeing this issue in the list of bug/enhancement, so I figure I should add it.

Current packaging software use by Adrift generates Anti-Virus false positive.

Avas, Kaspersky, Ariva and a bunch of other anti-virus program are cleaning the .exe file before you can even launch it.

If it's any help the message Norton gave me was:
"Dev500.EXE contained threat heur.advml.b"

EDIT:
Norton found more threats in adrift5.msi specifically the heuristic virus.

This has now become such a problem with Norton 360 that you will need to go into the Norton settings-Antivirus and configure it manually.
Heur.AdvML.B is also attacking other interactive fiction programs and even utilities from NVIDIA, so it needs to be disabled.
On the line that says "Signatures to exclude from all detections", click on configure.
Click the ADD button (This takes a very very very long time to load the list. When I say a long time I mean you can probably go and have lunch or play a game while it is loading!).
Eventually it will display a very long list which is in alphabetical order, so scroll down until you find Heur.AdvML.B
Click ADD button. (returns to previous dialog box)
Click OK button.
